Empire House

The meticulous refurbishment and sensitive redevelopment of this Grade II* listed landmark transformed it into 37 luxury residences.

About The Property

This ambitious scheme united careful restoration with a new two-storey rear extension, blending contemporary luxury with historic character. Central to the project was a deep respect for the building’s original fabric. Every effort was made to preserve and showcase its craftsmanship. The former “boardroom” was painstakingly restored, its grandeur revived with discreet modern refinements. Lightwells were introduced to draw daylight deep into the structure, enlivening once-shaded areas while preserving architectural integrity. Original mouldings, cornices, and covings were repaired and reinstated, ensuring each interior detail reflected the property’s period charm. These thoughtful interventions maintained a strong connection to its past.

Development Highlights

Across the interiors, historic features were reinstated, from mahogany panelling and black-and-white marble floors to the grand brass lantern and central lift in the entrance hall. The result is a timeless expression of Neo-Georgian elegance and a lasting testament to the building’s distinguished heritage.
