Marine House
The restoration of this Grade II-listed 1850s building transformed a vacant, at-risk property into thirteen contemporary apartments, bringing renewed life to one of Cardiff Bay’s most characterful historic buildings.
About The Property
Marine House is a distinguished Grade II-listed building forming an important part of the area’s maritime and architectural heritage. Previously used as commercial offices and in significant disrepair, its transformation required a careful balance between preservation and modernisation. The approach focused on retaining original features while introducing modern standards of comfort, efficiency, and functionality.

Development Highlights
A new mansard roof was sensitively designed to create additional living space, while basement excavation increased head height and usability. Original timber joists were preserved, and lightwells alongside a contemporary glass staircase introduced natural light. Restoration works included repairing sash windows with discreet double glazing and reinstating ornate plasterwork. The result is a refined example of heritage-led regeneration, combining conservation with contemporary living.
